Phil Grab have introduced passenger verification via selfie as part of their efforts to build a safer platform for riders and their driver-partners.
To create a safer environment for both passengers and drivers, Grab has introduced mandatory selfie as a part of their regulatory requirement. Passengers are required to submit a one-time selfie photo of themselves as a form of identity verification and this will be mandatory beginning 12th July 2019 and will be done in phases. Therefore, passengers may be asked to provide a selfie that will be used to verify passengers’ identity for future rides.
According to Grab, the selfie is meant for identification, safety and it can be used to assist authorities when required. Grab ensures that your selfie and identity is secured and will not be shared with our driver-partners and merchants. Grab will always ask for explicit permission to access your camera, and will not use it for any other purposes aside from what is clearly stated during permission request.
Note: For safety reasons, Grab may request for another selfie for verification purposes when required to do so.
